Following Lockdown in March, unfortunately like everybody else, we can no longer hold our March or subsequent monthly meetings for the foreseeable future, including our AGM meeting due to be held in March.
Papworth WI members, however, are a great bunch of ladies who continue to give support to one another despite the lockdown, by way of emails, telephone calls, etc. particularly in respect of our members who are vulnerable and live alone. We have been sent uplifting words and a yoga class which is most calming and uplifting at this time. Weekly ‘brain teaser’ quizes sent round to all the members with the occasional joke to keep the grey cells working. Weekly Zoom meetings of the choir so that we can continue to rehearse and get a chance of a brief face-to-face chat. Wonderful birthday cards made by one of our members who is also sending beautiful hand-made cards to those who are vulnerable and live alone with a ‘thinking’ of you message.
We recently embarked on our first Zoom Committee Meeting to enable us to discuss ways of helping members and the community at this time and to discuss plans as to how we will move forward in the future. Many other members continue knitting, crocheting etc to help the community.
We all look forward to when we are able to meet again, but in the meantime, let us keep well and safe and continue the good work of supporting one another during this time of crisis.
