Geoff Lambert and Buddy who is a Medical Detection Dog were the highlight of our June Meeting.  Geoff gives over a 100 talks a year and so far has raised over £110,000.00.  His dog, Buddy, is now 14 years old and has been trained to recognise various illnesses by smell.  The main ones are cancers and diabetes, and a new programme is starting for Parkinson’s Disease.  All training is done in Milton Keynes.  A Cheque was handed to Geoff as a donation to the charity and also many members put personal monies into the collection box displayed on the night.

Several ladies helped to crochet squares and all sorts of items to decorate St Peter’s Church lychgate for the Platinum Jubilee – hopefully many of you made a point of visiting the church to take a look – a wonderful sight.  The inside of the church was also decorated with flags, bunting etc.

Unfortunately, our Jubilee Cake and Fizz in the Park due to take place on Saturday 18th June had to be postponed due to bad weather.  We are hoping now to move this forward to sometime in August – date to be confirmed.

A Memorial Service took place at St Peter’s Church on Monday 20th June for our most senior member, Ruth Hurst, who was an amazing 96 year old and who sadly died in April. In true WI fashion Jerusalem was sung by nearly the whole membership of PEWI a truly fitting tribute to Ruth who had been a WI member for 75 years!

Advance notice of our July meeting To be held on the 20th July 2022.

If you’ve been watching the RHS Chelsea Flower Show recently, you will enjoy Angela Potter giving her talk ‘Behind the Scenes’ at Chelsea.  Her talk and presentation entitled
