The ladies of Papworth WI enjoyed an excellent evening with a talk and presentation by Emma Sanders from Magpas Air Ambulance.  The meeting was attended by many members and visitors who found Emma’s talk most interesting and informative.  The work carried out by this marvellous organisation has, over the years, saved thousands of lives by having the most skilled doctors and paramedics available in all kinds of emergency situations.  Magpas relies totally on donations and does not receive any Government money, therefore the talks and presentations and promotional material is the only means by which this amazing service can continue to help save lives.

A donation was presented to Emma on behalf of the members and there were some promotional items to purchase on the night.  Our members trading table collection was also donated which we are sure will help in a small way towards keeping this service running – who knows when any one of us may need it in the future!!

At our next meeting on 15th June we are delighted to announce

Geoff Lambert MSc, Fundraiser for

Medical Detection Dogs with Buddy

Geoff is now in the last, but already the longest, job in his career…..retirement. 16 years and counting.  He is Audit Chair of a local College and an NHS Trust because Education and Healthcare change people’s lives and in times of austerity he wants to ensure these organisations make the most of the money they have for the benefit of communities. He has also created the Business Plan for a charity seeking to sustain independent living in older people and is currently creating the Business Plan to raise £80m to rebuild the Buckingham canal.

His real passion however is as a fundraiser for Medical Detection Dogs which he has supported for over 10 years. With Buddy he organises and undertakes over 100 speaking engagements a year and has now delivered over 650 talks and raised over £110,000.   His view on life is simple ‘Doing nothing is not an option in life, doing something interesting and rewarding is entirely in your own hands’.
