April 2022

April meeting took place on 20th and started with the AGM which was held over from March due to members’ absence caused by illness and bad weather.

The Committee were re-elected with 2 members standing down and one new member joining us as the new Treasurer.

Following the business we were lucky enough to have the Parish Tree Warden, David Potter come along to give an interesting talk on tree planting in and around the village.  David described his role as ‘Tree Warden’ and spoke of the many wonderful trees we have in Papworth and the need for the residents to protect them and to plant more in their own environments.  He finished with a quote from an old book which described the importance of trees to maintain our planet.   A cheque was presented to David as a donation to St Peter’s Church following his talk.

Our speaker for May is Emma Sanders from the Magpas Air Ambulance – who will be giving a talk with supporting slides of the remarkable work that they undertake in our area.

Magpas Air Ambulance give the best pre-hospital emergency care, in the air or on land 24/7, including treatments normally only available in hospital. By providing this advanced care to critically ill and injured patients across the East of England and beyond, the charity not only saves lives but limits disability.

Our talk will take you behind the scenes to learn more about how Magpas Air Ambulance, its clinicians, staff, volunteers and supporters come together to save lives in your community.

The talk incorporates video footage and a power point presentation.

Do come along and support this marvellous charity – all ladies over 18 welcome.
