Choir sings at Ely Cathedral and Papworth Hospital Carol Service

The choir sang once again at Ely Cathedral on Saturday 2nd December.  Choir members gathered in front of the 12ft Christmas Tree to sing a lovely Carol ‘Star Candles’.  The atmosphere in the Cathedral was wonderful with over 500 tickets sold in support of the Papworth Hospital Charity.  Some of our members then helped serve mince pies and mulled wine to the congregation, an altogether memorable occasion.  Our picture shows the Choir under the Christmas Tree and a few members with guests celebrating at our Christmas lunch in the Almonry Restaurent afterwards.

Saffron Walden Choir Fest

Saffron Hall Festival

Our Choir members gathered together recently at Saffron Hall,  Saffron Walden for an afternoon of performing choirs from Essex to Cambridgeshire.  There were eight choirs  numbering over 200 members plus ticket holders,  to raise money for ACWW.  Lyrical Voices were on third and sang their songs to the theme of ‘ Songs from around the World’.  Our members had worked hard to memorise their words in Hebrew, Nigerian and African-American, not at all easy but we managed to pull if off nicely.  Thanks on behalf of our choir members go to Jan and Penny our two very dedicated musicians.

An Eltisley Country Garden

Eltisley Feast Week 17

That is exactly how  it felt to the choir on the evening of 12th July,  when we were gathered together in the marquee to sing to a relaxed audience on a warm summer’s night.  The cricketers were out there in their whites, children playing outside with their ball and hoops tea and cakes baked by the Eltisley WI ladies,  a truely English scene. Thank you ladies for inviting us to sing for you on this special week of the year for Eltisley.  Our girls looked lovely in their new summer blouse’s and sing out they did!

Summer time and Singing our Hearts out

Lyrical  Voices are a group of ladies who regularly sing in Papworth Everard.  We formed five years ago and have two wonderful musicians Jan and Penny who work hard to bring a very varied  programme for us.  We sing always for the pleasure of singing and having lots of fun with our music.  At present we are rehearsing in readiness to sing at Eltisley Feast week on Wednesday 12th July at 7.45pm which is open to all.  We are also friends of Papworth Hospital and we recently held a stall selling goods from the Papworth Hospital Shop  and at the same time raising money for the Papworth Hospital Charity,as seen above.  If you enjoy singing and would like to join our friendly choir please come along to The Studio, Ermine St. Papworth on either the lst 2nd or 3rd Wednesday in the month when you will be given a warm welcome.  There is no audition,  you do not have to read music,  just a willingness to sing and enjoy yourself.

Papworth and Elsworth WI Choir Sing for The Community

Lyrical Voices will be singing their way into Spring when they visit Field Lodge Care Home in St Ives on  Wednesday 5th April.  The Choir will some of their own established songs along with music from the 1940’s;  when the residents can join in and have a lovely afternoon sing-a-long.  The residents really enjoy themselves and the proof is there to see as singing is healthy and fun, we can become more mentally alert and there is a release of pain relieving endorphins.  It can help reduce depression and anxiety and can improve our sleep.  No wonder our friends at Field Lodge love to sing with us as this is the one thing where feeling better is pretty much guaranteed.
